I was born in Jacksonville, FL., the 5th child of Earnest and Shirley Butler. As long as I could remember I enjoyed entertaining the family with my dancing or just trying to be funny. I always wanted to grow up and be in the Motown group the The Temptations, that was before I realized they were all over 6' tall.

I got the acting bug while I was attending Miami Dade College when I did my first stage play Purlie along with the now famous JoMarie France. From there I got involve in community theater in Liberty City and we did a lot of fun stuff throughout the community. In 1973, I did the play "Ceremonies of Dark Old Men" it resulted in me being voted by my peers at Miami Dade College as Thespian of the Year. (I still have the trophy).

Unfortunately family and the desire to eat regularly pushed me to get a real job and I went to work for IBM. I kept my feet in the entertainment water creating a group and singing at lots of IBM events in Atlanta. We called ourselves the Sensations. I retired from IBM in 2012 and now I find myself doing something I should have been doing all my life.

I have studied with Christy Shaw, Tom Thon, Victoria Spencer Smith, Al Mitchell and Victor Love.

While going through this process I have developed  another passion and its called Photography. I now live in Atlanta with my wife Linda, our two sons live nearby and we enjoy our 3 grand children. When I'm not involved in acting or photography I can be found on the golf course.
